Hello, my name is Mary Elder and I am the owner of Deep River Counseling, PLLC. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. I received my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and a B.S. in Human Services from Gardner-Webb University. I provide therapy for adolescents, teens and adults. Most of my study and focus has been with those struggling with traumatic pasts as well as depression and anxiety. Other areas of focus are low self-esteem, phobias, relationship distress, parenting, stage of life changes, adjustment disorders, ADHD, anger, and ODD. I have received training with Eye Movement Integration (R) which is beneficial for individuals struggling with a traumatic event. My main therapeutic approach for therapy is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but I pull from other theories based on the needs and methods that will be most helpful to the client. I create a relaxed and non-judgmental environment for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings so that they may find resolution.
